Hi again from Italy,                                                                       August 2007

Since my last letter, I’ve visited the States for a training conference with “Armed Forces Baptist Missions.”  This was a very fruitful time, and it was a pleasure to fellowship with old friends and to meet new people who are laboring to introduce servicemen to Christ in various parts of the world.

This time was also used to enquire into the possibility of obtaining a religious workers visa. My pastor and I enjoyed a rare opportunity to fellowship during the twelve hour round trip to the Italian Consulate in Philadelphia.  We learned that I do qualify for that type of visa; however, it will require another trip to the states later this year.

My family also celebrated our mother’s eightieth birthday, and it was a joyous time. The three weeks seemed short among friends in Virginia.  However, upon my return to Italy, the folks at Vicenza Baptist were very kind to let me know that it seemed a long time on this end.  These are difficult times for many in our church.

You may have heard on the news of several recent deaths in Afghanistan. Some of the men who gave their lives were close personal friends of members in our church.  Need I say that it hit them very hard? We have three members who are “in harms way” and several other friends for whom we pray.

One of our men is in a “hot zone” and has not received any mail for six weeks.  Due to the hazards involved, the supply chain can only bring them essentials such as food, water, and munitions.  I mention this to ask you to make this burden your own.  Please remember our defenders in your prayers.  Contrary to what you may hear on the news, these young people believe in what they are doing, and they want to be allowed to complete the task.  Please keep them in your prayers.

After mentioning that, any other prayer requests we might have seem trivial.

However, we would ask you to pray for:

Unity in our church & a burden for the lost

My upcoming visa trip (to obtain a religious workers visa)

My need to obtain dependable transportation

Again, please remember our young defenders and their families.

Thank you, and may God richly bless you.  Yours in Christ’s service,

Pastor Tim Drylie
